This iron is just perfect! I have absolutely no complaints.

It gets very hot and stays hot long enough. That was my main concern with going cordless... but no longer. It's also a very nice medium size and weight. I had an older iron that was smaller and another iron I purchased a couple years ago that was bigger than this one...too big for me (and it didn't stay hot!). The steam feature on this Panasonic works great so far, no leaking. Love the detachable tank. Love the retractable cord on the base. Love how easy the heat setting buttons are to push. Love the size. Love the stainless soleplate. Love that it has no cord to get in the way. I just plain love everything about it!

I am a seamstress and I have been searching for a new iron for a good while, but was having trouble finding one with all of my requirements. The search is finally over!

I love the cordless feature! So convenient when ironing a quilt top or backing, or curtains or other large items. Also, it can be carried to a smaller ironing mat for quilt piecing and then put back on its base. It stays hot off its base for 5 minutes or more. It heats quickly and reheats quickly when returned to its base. It feels heavy, like a quality iron should. It glides smoothly on its shiny stainless steel baseplate. The burst of steam works real well. The high setting is hot enough to get the wrinkles out of most cottons. The base has a retractable cord and a very nice clip-on plastic cover/case with a carrying handle.
Not-so-good features: it is difficult to set it back in the base as you have to line up the slots, but I think with use I will get better at setting it in the right place the first try. It doesn't steam real well when the tank gets below half. The heat settings are limited to Low, Medium and High. I would like to have settings in between those. It shuts off automatically after 10 minutes if not lifted from the base. I would like that time to be longer.

I bought this iron to replace my old West Bend cordless, which I have owned and loved for many years. The West Bend is no longer available, so after much research I decided on the Panasonic. I am pleased in every way. The cover and the retractable cord make storage easy. The detachable fill chamber is nice. The iron heats well and the sole plate is very smooth, making ironing almost a pleasure. I see that other people have had trouble with the iron maintaining heat, but I have not, probably because I am used to always setting the iron back on the base as I iron. In every way, I am happy with this product.

I received this Smartek ST-2000N as a gift from my brother-in-law after a near accident with our "Black & Decker F1075 Iron". This is what happened. My wife was ironing and the cord was dangling down from the iron to the outlet and someone (me of course) walked by and tripped over the wire.
This invention of a CORDLESS iron is one of those things that you say to yourself "why didn't I think of that?!"
I would recommend this item for its design, performance and it's overall design.
Super product, a MUST for every household.

While I will agree that cordless is a great feature for an iron that's the only good thing this one has going for it. I had trouble with this iron dripping water while ironing with the steam off as well as dripping water just moving it from the base to the fabric on the board. When steaming it kept spitting out this white gritty like sand. I thought it may be just because it was new from the factory but after lots of steaming it still continues to do it. It also releases this stuff when you jiggle the iron. It could be that I just got a lemon but I can't recommend this iron.

I bought the smartek iron due to an incident i had with my three year old child. He walked by and didnt realize that the iron was plugged in he tripped over the plug and burnt himself badly. The smartek is safe and convenient, I reccommend this to everyone especially those who have small kids. This item works wounders!!
